New Moon & Solar Eclipse in Capricorn - January 5, 2019

January 5th is the most powerful day of the month as we are graced with a Total Solar Eclipse and New Moon in Capricorn which is in conjunction with Saturn (planet of authority and responsibility), Pluto (planet of power) and also Mercury (planet of communication and career) as it shifts into Capricorn’s domain that same day. This is a time of cleansing old karmic patterns, closing out old chapters, and planting new seeds that are focused on long-term goals. For many, this is a great New Moon to preform a money, career, or rituals that are fixated on stability and security. This cosmic event is focused on building momentum for the future.

The very next day, Uranus turns direct within the last degree of Aries, with not only opposes the Moon and the other planets in Capricorn, but it also may trigger a sudden change as it opens our eyes to what is restricting us from moving forward with our long-term goals and resolutions. This is the swift kick in the ass that inspires us to get our shit together. When the Moon is in Capricorn it brings out our practical, organized, and dutiful side. We are inspired to empower our goals and put them first, primarily when the focus is on our career, business, or something we take charge of. This is where a plan is formulated, the steps planned, and the task executed with success. Capricorn doesn’t do well with failure, and so it​ is easier to see the downsides to our plans, to ensure they are realistic, practical, and of course, reachable – even if it takes a little time and hard work.

These energies are energized as it coincides with a Solar Eclipse and Sun in Capricorn. The new ambitions, resolutions, or intentions we set during this time will be supported for at least the next 6 months, which is the time influenced by an Eclipse, until the next one comes along in the July.

A Solar Eclipse happens when the Moon passes directly in between the Earth and the Sun, and its shadow blocks the view of the Sun from Earth. This is a rare experience which only happens twice a year, typically every six months, and so these are called Eclipse seasons.

Capricorn reminds us: your time, energy, and focus are all investments, and like a Capricorn, we are inspired to invest wisely. The changes inspired by the influential New Moon and Solar Eclipse are going to shake things up so to put us on a higher path that is more aligned with our sense of purpose and a focus concerning our emotional as well as material security.

While Capricorn is a feminine sign, it does also represent the father or more masculine aspects as it governs authority, responsibility, and structure. One of the strongest characteristics Capricorn possesses is also dedication and ambition.

This is an extremely healing New Moon, especially so for the Sacred Masculine, as not only does it help align us to a sense of purpose in accomplishing major goals by helping us focus where we need to clean up distractions and road blocks, but it also does the same spiritually in terms of healing karmic and ancestral DNA that has been cycling into our lives. The wounds received by the father, that toxic masculinity, is being pulled out from our programming and restored with the more positive aspects of the masculine.
