Full Moon in Cancer – January 17, 2022

On January 17 the Moon comes home in Cancer and shines a bright light on all the things centered around the heart of our emotional troubles and delights. When the Moon is in Cancer it focuses on the home, family, the mother figures in our lives – or our mothering role for others, and how we mother ourselves in terms of self-care and nurturing our own emotional needs.

While the Full Moon does ask us to take better care of ourselves and the ones we adore and care for, it also brings challenges alongside a need for releasing the emotional baggage that stands between us and the deepening connections we crave. Cancer is all about vulnerability and rules the feminine. Certain defensives we have obtained through traumas experienced, emotional blockages, or toxic connections with others based off trauma bonding and codependent behaviors will come to light, allowing us to see where the triggers stem from, how we can better heal those wounds, and why we must face our shadow.

The Cancerian Full Moon asks you to take a deep look within your heart and to clear out what you have been harboring – such as resentment, fear, and that shield that you think keeps you safe but, in all actuality, has been blocking the emotional depth you crave in your connections. These are the things that need to be addressed to align with the feminine power or connection you want to encompass.

This may also be a rather karmic time for many, in terms of old cycles clearing out and making sense of why we have been stuck in said cycles. Along with the Full Moon we have Mercury and Venus both in retrograde, bringing back those ex’s either to our lives or our thoughts, which allows us to review the relationship and the lessons it brought us. Pluto also makes a powerful statement as it opposes the Moon, which helps us understand how we can stand more empowered in future relationships, through considering how we felt disempowered through past relationships.

The Full Moon in Cancer may bring about the waterworks as it helps us release all of that emotional baggage. This is needed. This is an emotional cleansing which clears out all that old energy which we no longer need to carry so to align with more nurturing and loving connections that remind us of our power and purpose.
